Architecture and play at BLOX

BLOX is a building on Christians Brygge hat houses architecture, design, and new ideas. In addition to being an iconic structure, it's also an inspiring and recreational hanout for the city's families with children. Outside there's a public playground and inside the Danish Architecture Center there's a cozy café, interesting exhibitions, and a creative family workshop, which is included in the entrance fee.

Community fun at Absalon

Folkehuset Absalon is its own colorful little universe - and it's open to everyone. Absalon offers a range of activities for the whole family, including table tennis, yoga, rhythmics, dancing, bridge, and much more. Please note that some activities are free, while others require enrollment. The atmosphere is always informal and relaxed, and every night there's a stress-free communal dinner where everyone sits together at long tables.

Say hello to the animals in ByOasen

In the middle of Nørrebro there's a little secret garden, a kind of petting zoo full of rabbits, chickens, and goats. Around the mini "farmhouse", there are some nice green spaces where families can enjoy a packed lunch or a tumble on the grass - bring a ball if you want. There's also a ropeway - which is usually pretty busy! If you forget to pack a lunch, we recommend a trip to the Mirabelle bakery just across the road - delicious!

The secret oasis in Classens Garden

Tucked away in the courtyard on Østerbro you'll find Classens Garden - a green and safe oasis where the whole family can take a well-deserved rest from the hustle and bustle of the city. In the garden, there's also a nice playground for the little ones, offering everything from playhouses and sandboxes to climbing elements and walkways. As a parent, you can sit back and relax on a bench while the children play - the playground is fenced off, so they can't run away.

Nature and wildlife at Amager Fælled

Families in the city often get a limited amount of nature, fresh air, and wildlife experiences. Here Copenhageners are lucky, they'd got Amager Fælled - the perfect escape - where nature is untouched and the animals free. The the family on a beautiful walk into the wild, while the city keeps pulsating right behind you. Psst! The metro takes you right to the "door".

Planes and food in Flyvergrillen

Do your kids love planes? Then take a trip to Flyvergrillen, which is so close to the Copenhagen Airport that you can see the planes take off and land - up close! Meanwhile, you can fill your bellies with ine of the many Danish grill classics, plus there's a menu for kids. After lunch of dinner there's an outdoor playground with a view for an aircraft fan of any age.

Active play at Konditaget Lüders

If you want to burn off the calories from Flyvergrillen, make your way to the recreational space Lüders in Nordhavn. Taking the stairs to the rooftop of the multi-storey carpark will get your heart rate going, but the playground is worth it - for both kids and adults! There are swings, trampolines, and outdoor training facilities, so the whole family can exercise while enjoying the view of the water and the new part of town. Psst! There is an elevator if the little legs can't handle the stairs.

Picnic at Assistens Kirkegård

When Copenhageners neeed a little pease and quiet they escape to the city's parks and cemeteries - and Assistens Cemetery on Nørrebro is a popular refuge for families with children! There are lots of lovely green spaces where you can sit on the grass with your picnic blankets and packed lunches or pass by all the old graves and try to find the many famous Danes buried there - for example Hans Christians Andersen himself.

Take a break at Nørrebro Bibliotek

Libraries are popular hangouts for the city's families with children. On Nørrebro they recently converted an old tram warehouse into a public library, which includes a nice children's section with little nooks and caves where kids can cuddle up with pillows and blankets and read in peace and quiet. The little ones even have their own entrance to the kid's corner - through a tiny door!

All sorts of fun at Superkilen

If you go to Nørrebro library, the kids are sure to be caught up by the books - and all the excitement outside! Superkilen's urban park project, including the Red Square, the Black Market, and the Green Park, offers all sorts of fun and activities, such as rocking sofas with enough space for the whole family, an elephant slide, a variety of playground elements, open spaces and hills, and plenty of cafés and shops to buy snacks and drinks.

Indoor play at KU.BE

You can't always count on the weather in Copenhagen, so it's a good idea to have an indoor activity in your back pocket. At KU.BE the kids can let loose and parents can relax with a good cup of coffee. There are lots of fun activities for kids of all ages and a nice café serving lunch and dinner, but you're more than welcome to bring your own packed lunch! Psst! There are plenty of highchairs available for the smallest guests.

Café time at Sweet Surrender

Café visits with the kids are often more trouble than they're worth, but at Café Sweet Surrender on Vesterbro, guests of all shapes and sizes are welcome. There is a play corner where you can send the kids when they can't sit still anymore, there are highchairs for the little ones, and you can easily keep an eye on your baby carriage. Psst! They even have events such as baby rhythmics.
